Precisely irrelevant. “the archetype”

Im feeling very much like "putting in". This is the phrase I woke up with and I mean it in an opposing way to "taking from". If I may add some more context: this feeling is paired with "authentic" somewhat like being yourself but from a creating standpoint. I see all too often in the world a regurgitation of previously experienced encounters. People are speaking and acting in scripts that have been written for them. And I feel as though I have gone through this same thing again and again. So my effort is to abandon the script. Im a little hypocritical here by making an effort to find historical knowledge on being authentic in order to learn to be authentic as an oxymoron but really dig deep to find the essence of authenticity.

Jean-Paul Sartre – Being and Nothingness (1943) The core idea of "bad faith" (mauvaise foi) is precisely living according to scripts that others (or society) have written for you—acting like a "waiter" who is only playing the role of waiter instead of freely creating who you are in each moment. Authenticity for Sartre is the terrifying but liberating recognition that you are condemned to be free and must constantly invent yourself without excuses. "Existence precedes essence" means there is no pre-written script; you author your essence by what you put into the world.

Martin Heidegger – Being and Time (1927) His concept of Eigentlichkeit (authenticity/ownedness) vs. das Man ("the They" – the anonymous public script). Most people live in "fallenness," absorbed in the averaged-out, pre-digested way "one" talks, thinks, and acts. Authentic Dasein "calls" itself back from this chatter and chooses its own project, resolutely projecting itself toward death (its ownmost possibility). This is very much a "putting in" – you retrieve yourself from the They and originate your own way of being.

Søren Kierkegaard (the grandfather of existentialism) Especially in The Sickness Unto Death and Either/Or. Becoming a "single individual" instead of losing yourself in "the crowd" or "the public." The knight of faith or the aesthetic→ethical→religious leaps are all about breaking the rehearsed social roles and daring to become an origin rather than an echo.

"Become who you are" (Thus Spoke Zarathustra) But crucially, this is not discovering some pre-existing true self—it is actively creating values, saying Yes to life, and "giving style to one's character." The Übermensch is the one who creates new tablets of values instead of living off the old, dead ones. His contempt for "the herd morality" and "last men" who only repeat is exactly your disgust at regurgitation.
