Custom Furniture, Built in Phoenix
Shape builds custom furniture in steel and wood at our shop in Phoenix. We're a two-person studio run by Kyle and Mike, and Kyle builds every piece himself. We handle design, engineering, shop drawings, fabrication and delivery in-house.
We mill our own lumber. Our handrail in American ash came from wood Kyle milled himself, and our brewery tables were built from old-growth fir salvaged from the framing of the same building they now sit in. Milling our own wood lets us choose the grain, keep slabs together, and give a piece a real story.
Most of our furniture combines wood with metal: steel bases and frames, brass details, machined hardware and moving parts. On the metal side we work in steel, stainless, brass, copper and aluminum, and we make our own corten-style weathering steel finish in the shop. On the wood side we work in oak, ash, walnut and reclaimed species, finished to show the material honestly.
What we build:
Dining, conference and bar tables
Commercial and brewery tables
Benches, credenzas and shelving
Wet bars and built-in pieces
Concrete and live-edge tables
One-off pieces with hinges, pivots or other moving parts
We work with homeowners directly and with architects and designers who need a piece built to their drawings. If you have dimensions, a sketch or just an idea, we can help work it out before anything is cut.
